As far as using XHTML. If I convert it to HTML the page goes nuts and looks wierd. HTML 4.01 does not server up the page, the look, the same was xhtml does. I originally started programming this site in 4.01 but then was forced to move to XHTML to take advantage of the CSS programming side for looks.

There is 0 advantages in using XHTML if you are serving it as text and not as an application. Furthermore, IE will treat it as HTML with bugs.
The DOM you are using is for HTML, so that shouldn't be a problem. Obviously, if you change to HTML 4.01 strict, you need to change the empty tags ( will be again, etc). CSS is the same for both. The only difference is that XHTML can take the advantages of XML styling (because it is XML as a matter of fact) but, again, that only is possible if you serve it as application/xml+xhtml and IE doesn't support XHTML at all. |
