Hi,

Not strictly a DHTML question, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a good CMS system. One which is flat file based, allows for editing pages in place and that's composed of DIV tags where the entire layout of the site and visual appearance is controlled via the stylesheet?

Thanks,
Tom

You do have a difficult question. Most of the CMS I know use tables for layouts, but can be hacked to use divs.

I am using wordpress, which is a blogging software, but with a bit of work can be used as a CMS. Wordpress is really good and uses xml, so layout it is easily converted to divs. Wordpress is free.

The two most popular CMS programs (free) are Joomla and Mambo but, as I do not use them, I can't give an opinion on those.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

yes i've had a play around with Wordpress and it seems like a decent blogging software. Although in the end opted for Mambo as it seems to have more features and be more of a complete CMS solution. I'm still stuck with the mainly table based layout though, but its valid transitional XHTML so that will do for me

I'm moving my new site live soon, so you should see it there, until then its here

Thanks for your help.
