If I redirect a page like index.html to index.xml on the server side, would index.html be classed as getting a hit to a search engine bot or not?
If so, this would be a great way of getting better search rankings by adding lots of information to that page to boast your rankings and not allow robots to follow any links. What do you think? Bon Bon |

1 > You don't get hits on a search engine when you view a page. You get a rating in the search engine' database on the basis of the content and then no. of pages that link your site.

That's a retoric question, dancedevils. You are talking about server-side, so whatever happens on the server-side does not happen client-side, in this case, the search robot.
Now, if you could just forget about spoofing search engines... they are there to serve us with the best information available, not with some site which "needs to be ranked #1". - [url="http://neo.dzygn.com/"]Mark[/url:qgpuapx41p] |

Yeah I agree Mark with your comment about search engines, but to first get up there with the big boys I need two firm feet to stand on.
I was not planning on manipulating search engines but rather get it ranked to start with then change it so that it is less flashy. Basically Abhi has also taught me something as I never knew they were ranked on how many people link to your site. Thanks. Bon Bon |
